We remove the methane you can't capture

More than two thirds of the world's methane escapes at concentrations too low to flare or capture. Sixteen44 destroys it - at dairy barns, landfills, wastewater treatment plants, biogas facilities, and oil and gas sites.

WHERE WE WORK

If your site emits methane, we can probably treat it

We focus on three industries where dilute methane escapes continuously and there is currently no viable solution.

Waste

Landfills | Wastewater | Biogas

Landfill surface emissions and gas too weak for the flare. Off-gas from wastewater treatment. Tail gas and fugitive losses from biogas upgrading. Existing capture systems take the rich streams and we handle what's left, which is often most of it.

Energy

Oil and gas | coal mining

Vents, tank batteries, and gas streams too low-quality to recover economically. Sources that sit below the flare threshold, above the regulator's, and outside the reach of every current option.

THE GAP

Working with the non-flammable, non-capturable methane

Flares, digestors, and gas capture systems work well, as long as the methane is concentrated. Below roughly 4%vol, methane won't sustain a flame, and no capture system can recover it economically. That's not an edge case. It's where most of the world's methane is.

Which means that for a dairy barn, a landfill surface, or a low-pressure vent, the honest answer until now has been that nothing could be done. Meanwhile the regulation is arriving regardless, and the reporting obligations are arriving first.

Sixteen44 works precisely in that range, and even works in the ppm range. Not as an alternative to capture, but on everything capture leaves behind.

82.5x

The warming impact of methane compared with CO2, per unit of mass, over 20 years.

>2/3

The share of global methane emissions at concentrations too dilute to burn or capture.

<4%v

The concentration below which methane will not sustain a flame - and where our technology operates.

HOW IT WORKS

It starts with a site assessment

No committment, no procurement process. We look at your emissions and tell you what's treatable.

01

Site assessment

We look at your emission sources - concentration, flow rate, variability, seasonaility. You receive a written assessment of what's treatable and what it would take.

02

Feasibility & design

We size a unit to your site conditions and model throughput, energy demand, integration with your existing infrastructure, and expected abatement.

03

Deployment

We install. Dependeing on the commercial model you choose, we then operate the unit for you, lease it to you, or hand it over outright.

04

Operation & reporting

Continuous monitoring and quantified removal, reported in a form you can use for compliance and disclosure.

THE TECHNOLOGY

Oxidation, accelerated

Methane breaks down naturally in the atmosphere through oxidation, it just takes about a decade. Our process replicates the oxidation chemistry inside a unit on your site, orders of magnitude faster, at low temperature and with minimal energy input.

The methane isn't captured, stored, or moved somewhere else. It's destroyed, permanently, at the point where it's emitted.

Works where nothing else does

Effective at non-flammable, non-capturable concentrations from >4%vol

Low energy, low temperature

No combustion, no high-temperature process, minimal power draw

Permanent and measurable

Destruction, not displacement. Quantified continuously for reporting and offsets.

COMMERCIAL MODELS

Three ways to work with us

Different sites have different constraints: capital, operations, appetite for owning new equipment. We'll find the structure that fits yours.

Service agreement

We install, own, and operate the unit on your site.

- You provide access and utilities; we deliver removal.

- No capital outlay and no new equipment for your team to run.

- Performance is our obligation, not your risk.

Lease

You host and operate; we retain the asset and support you.

- Fixed, predictable operating cost.

- Training, maintenance, and support included.

- Suits sites with in-house technical teams.

Purchase

Your own unit.

- Full ownership, commissioning, and handover.

- Ongoing support and service available.

- Suits operators with capital budget who want the asset on their books.

Where your emissions qualify for carbon credits, the resulting value can be shared with you. The structure depends on your site, your jurisdiction, and our methodology - we work it through with you case by case.

Find out what's treatable at your site.

A site assessment tells you which of your emission sources we can address, what it would take, and what it would remove. It's the fastest way to find out whether this is relevant to you.
